If you noticed people talking about Valve, Half-Life 3, and Gamescom over the past 24 hours, you're not alone. The internet is busy speculating about whether Valve will be at the upcoming gaming event to confirm its mythical Half-Life threequel. Why? Because of a Reddit post claiming that Gamescom "confirmed" that Valve would announced Half-Life 3 in Cologne, Germany.

Half-Life, the acclaimed first-person shooter series, has left a legacy since its inception in 1998. The original game and its sequel are cherished by the gaming community and considered some of the best video games of all time. Yet the gaming landscape has been left hanging, waiting for the much-anticipated but never-arrived third sequel or expansion. Adding to the complexity of the situation, the same source later clarified he just found out that the Gamescom companion app he had used was outdated and no longer available on Google Play, effectively debunking his findings.

Nevertheless, some fans keep their hopes alive for an announcement about a Half-Life: Alyx sequel, the mysterious Neon Prime game, or even the long-awaited Half-Life 3.

From another perspective, Valve’s expected presence at Gamescom might not necessarily suggest a major revelation. It is worth noting that Valve’s primary focus in recent years has shifted to the development of the Steam platform, a move that has proven to be a significant revenue stream for the company. Valve's presence at the convention might simply indicate a more business-oriented agenda, rather than the announcement of a new game.

So many people are asking for it, it seems stupid not to make another title.

Everything I have read and heard points to them making Half Life 3 but even if they were, they would not announce it until they could show us something so there is still hope!

Valve needs to make a move already. We have been waiting long enough.
